When we moved from France, we were desperate to find good cheese. After
touring Safeways filled with mostly pasteurized and tasteless cheese, Whole
Foods was a nice change with a large selection of cheeses. However, they
were expensive and sometimes too old or dry. So we kept looking and eventually
found...
Milk Pail Market

If you want to be sure to find a good cheese, look no further. I won't
list all the cheeses they have, but here are a few pictures to give you
an idea. Our favorite picks:
Goat cheese: all sorts
of crottins, Selles sur Cher
Appenzeller: very tasty
swiss cheeze
Brie: soft cheese made
with raw milk, nothing to do with to processed cheese brie
Why we go back over and over again:
the consistent quality:
the cheese is also perfectly aged
the large selection of
french cheeses
the price, very reasonable
(crottins around $2)
And the main reason: we
love cheese!

Other great stuff at Milk Pail: the bread (the sweet baguette is just like
in Paris), the fruits & vegetables of course, the kalamata olives, the
tarama, the Bonny Doon Riesling, the Lindt chocolate, and more...
Alternatives
Andronico's: for Munster, Pont l'Eveque
Trader Joe's: for Morbier, Raclette, Chavrie, Boursin... A good start
Whole Foods: for crottins and Camembert
